What Is Control4 and Why It’s Perfect for Scottsdale Homes
Control4 is a centralized smart home platform that connects compatible lighting, motorized shades, climate, security, audio/video, and other technologies through one interface. Instead of moving between separate apps and controls, you can manage everyday routines from Control4 touchscreens, wall keypads, or mobile devices.
For Scottsdale homeowners, that coordination can make a meaningful difference. Automated shading and climate scenes can help manage intense sun and maintain indoor comfort, while remote access lets owners check and adjust their homes from anywhere, including while traveling or away from a seasonal property. Lighting, entertainment, home theater systems, and security can also be programmed to suit each household's use of the space.
A Control4 system may be designed as part of a new build or integrated with compatible technology already in the home. The right approach depends on the property, existing equipment, network, and desired experience. Wipliance evaluates those details before recommending whether to retain, upgrade, reprogram, or replace individual components.
Why Work with Wipliance for Control4 in Scottsdale
Choosing a Control4 partner is about more than selecting equipment. The quality of the design, programming, network, documentation, and long-term support determines how the system feels in everyday use.
Wipliance works with homeowners planning new systems as well as those who need a capable local team to improve an existing installation. Our approach begins with the property and the people who use it: what should happen automatically, what should be simple for guests or family members, and which systems must work together without adding friction.
For Scottsdale projects, this may include coordinating technology with a luxury new build, creating discreet controls that respect the interior design, or improving climate and shading responses for the desert environment. Wipliance can also work alongside architects, builders, designers, and contractors when the technology is one part of a larger residential project.

New Control4 Installations & Upgrades
Wipliance provides Control4 system design and installation for new construction, renovations, and existing homes in Scottsdale. We coordinate the technology around how you want the home to function, not around a collection of disconnected devices.
For a new build or renovation, early planning helps align infrastructure, equipment placement, controls, and design details before changes become disruptive. Wipliance can also collaborate with architects, builders, designers, and contractors so that technology supports the broader project.
For an existing home, the first step is understanding what is already in place. We can evaluate the system, identify compatible components, and recommend a practical upgrade path based on performance, usability, and your goals.
Our installation and upgrade capabilities include:
- Comprehensive smart home system design and installation
- Customized interfaces, touchscreens, and keypad control
- Mobile app integration for remote access
- Control4 programming for personalized scenes and routines
- Lighting, motorized shade, climate, security, and entertainment integration
- System upgrades shaped around Scottsdale’s climate and lifestyle needs
The result is a cohesive system that is easy to use at home or while you are away.
Featured Scottsdale Project: Illuminating Taliesin West
Taliesin West is a National Historic Landmark and one of eight Frank Lloyd Wright sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Updating the lighting across this Scottsdale landmark required modern performance without compromising its handcrafted fixtures, historic materials, or architectural integrity.
The Challenge
The property’s original construction and preservation requirements ruled out cutting into walls or running new wiring. Many fixtures were designed by Wright or his apprentices and had to be carefully disassembled, updated, and reassembled.
The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation also needed simpler control over individual areas and shared lighting scenes so daily tours, staff operations, and private events could run smoothly.
The Wipliance Approach
Wipliance used Lutron’s Ketra wireless lighting technology and HomeWorks QSX controls to improve color quality while working within the property’s existing infrastructure.
The team carefully relamped historic fixtures, installed Lumaris tape lighting in the drafting studio to complement its natural daylight, added Lightbar Slim fixtures to the boardroom shelving, and incorporated wire-free Palladiom shades in a key meeting space. Customized scenes now allow staff to recreate warm, campfire-inspired evening light, produce bright white tones during the day, or introduce saturated color for events.
The Result
Taliesin West gained high-fidelity lighting and more accessible control without invasive modifications to the historic property.
“Because the team at Wipliance is so respectful of the legacy represented at Taliesin West, all of this lighting could be installed in ways that did no damage.”
Stuart Graff, Former President and CEO | Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation

Featured Scottsdale Project: Arizona Patio Makeover
A Scottsdale backyard should feel like an extension of the home: a comfortable gathering place for everyday living, outdoor dining, and year-round entertaining. At the Wipliance Scottsdale show home, an ordinary patio was transformed into a polished outdoor destination with integrated lighting, audio, heating, video, and Control4 automation.
The Challenge
The original patio featured standard 6-inch downlights, a ceiling fan, and limited integration of technology. The redesign called for custom tongue-and-groove woodwork with small-aperture lighting, concealed speakers, and patio heaters built directly into the finish details.
The project also required layered linear lighting around the pool and bar, a decorative illuminated ceiling feature that continued down the wall, a television designed for bright outdoor conditions, and zoned audio for both the seating areas and pool perimeter.
The Wipliance Approach
Wipliance collaborated with Maude Haus Interiors and Signature Custom Homes to coordinate the technology with the architecture and interior design.
DMF small-aperture downlights were integrated into the wood ceiling to provide functional illumination without introducing glare or distracting from the finish. Linear lighting was added beneath the bar countertop, along the toe kick, around the pool, and within the ceiling details to create depth and visual balance.
Concealed speakers support the main seating areas, while landscape audio delivers rich sound throughout the pool area. The distributed audio system allows each zone to be controlled independently.
A weather-resistant outdoor television was selected for daytime visibility, while Control4 and Lutron integrate lighting, entertainment, heating, and audio through intuitive touch, voice, and remote controls.
The Result
The completed space combines custom craftsmanship with technology that remains discreet until it is needed. Homeowners and guests can adjust lighting scenes, music zones, patio heat, and entertainment from one coordinated system, making the backyard equally suited to a quiet evening or a full outdoor gathering.
“Everything turned out beautiful. From the lighting to the cabinetry to the coping on the walls, it all came together. It’s spectacular. Through this project and many others, Wipliance is a great team to work with.”
