A Home Lighting Designer Explores the Latest Trends
As a passionate home lighting designer serving Scottsdale, AZ, the Wipliance team is excited to explore the latest technology and share their discoveries in this ever-changing industry. To accomplish this, we attend events, seminars, and conferences. As John Wooden so wisely said, “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.”
We recently attended Lightapalooza, an event that draws integrators, manufacturers, and lighting experts, all sharing their knowledge and the latest innovations. As a front-runner in lighting control and design, we also hosted the Lightapalooza VIP event, a pre-conference gathering of some of the brightest minds in the field. This year, over 100 people attended.
Here, we’ll share some of the new discoveries we encountered, including the latest trends in lighting design and integration.

Linear Lighting
As a long-time partner with Control4 home automation, we’re well-versed in the use of linear lighting to create stunning illumination. Landscape Lighting
Advancements in landscape lighting were big talk at Lightapalooza 2024. Of the many innovations, the latest full-spectrum LED lighting took center stage. One of our partners, Coastal Source, recently launched the Ketra-Ready fixture for outdoor use.
We’ve spoken extensively about the beauty and benefits of Lutron’s Ketra lighting, one of the most advanced lighting systems in the world. Bringing this level of illumination to our clients’ outdoor areas allows us to transform a backyard into an oasis. In much the same way we highlight artwork and architectural elements in a home, we can now bring out the best features in plants, outdoor water features, and sculptures.
Another Coastal Source product that everyone was talking about was their EVO Lighting Series, a customizable line of luminaires that add elegance and design aesthetics. This lighting comes in three configurations and offers brilliant outdoor illumination from a small footprint.

Training & Certification
You can always count on several lighting manufacturers to develop a new product every year. This year, many took part in in-depth training in contemporary architectural lighting and the importance of human-centric lighting solutions. There were even courses in solar integration, power design, and battery backup systems.
As long-time enthusiasts regarding the use of light to enhance wellness, we’re always excited to gather insights about the effects of light on humans and the role of lighting designers in the quest for healthier homes.
Glenn Merlin, a renowned lighting expert, was also there, presenting his original Adaptive Lighting Approach. As you can see, there was never a dull moment at Lightapalooza 2024.
