Wipliance was proud to work with Seattle Sounders’ goalkeeper Stefan Frei, one of the top-performing goalkeepers in Major League soccer and already a Sounders legend. With his artistic vision, passion for technology and interest in creating a state-of-the-art smart home, we had a challenge ahead of us at his Brainbridge Island, WA, estate.
He envisioned a space that beautifully combined technology with a clean, modern canvas that allowed the scenic beauty to be the centerpiece. Let’s explore the highlights of Stefan Frei’s modern smart home project.

Lighting the Way with Lutron RadioRA3
Frei wanted smart home technology that was both functional and visually appealing. With that in mind, he leaned on the Wipliance team to make his vision a reality. Using the RadioRA3 system from Lutron, we were able to create a lighting setup that’s easy to control throughout the house.
Large switch banks, which would have disrupted the home’s clean aesthetic, were replaced with discreet, engraved keypads. This thoughtful design not only reduced wall clutter but also left more space for Frei’s art to stand out.
Shades That Blend Privacy and Views
To maintain a connection with nature while ensuring comfort and privacy, Wipliance installed Lutron’s Sivoia QS Wireless shades. These shades operate silently, provide privacy in the bedrooms, and minimize glare in the TV viewing areas, all while preserving the breathtaking views of Bainbridge Island’s natural surroundings.
Home Entertainment Without Compromise
When it comes to entertainment, Frei wanted a setup that delivered high performance without taking away from the breathtaking scenery. Wipliance delivered a motorized Screen Innovations projection screen that disappears when it’s not in use.
Paired with a Sony 4K native projector and Focal surround sound speakers, we were able to create the ultimate movie-watching experience that was high-tech while keeping the focus on the home’s scenic backdrop.
Empowering Hands-On Control
A passionate technophile, Frei wanted his home automation system to be intuitive and easy to manage. Wipliance ensured that all the integrated systems were compatible with platforms like Apple HomeKit, which allowed Frei to control his lights, shades, entertainment, and more within a single interface.
This hands-on approach allowed him to personalize and experiment with scenes, as well as reflect his passion for both technology and creativity.
