Nestled in the Arizona desert, Taliesin West stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site and a living testament to Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural legacy. Originally built as his winter home and “living laboratory,” this historic site became a playground for Wright’s architectural experimentation, blending with its natural surroundings in Wright’s trademark style. Taliesin West embodies his philosophy of design in harmony with nature, making any updates to the property—especially in lighting—a careful balance between preservation and innovation. Working with Lutron, Wipliance was honored with the opportunity to bring the lighting for this historic home into the 21st century.

We Hosted Clients and Partners at Our New Spokane Location

As we expand our presence in the Spokane area, we wanted to give some of our local clients and partners a look at what we have been working on in our new showroom. So, on July 25th, we gave them an exclusive, behind-the-scenes sneak peek at our new design center. And we’re happy to say that with an almost 80% percent RSVP rate, it was quite a success! The event also featured light bites, refreshments, and a wine tasting from J. Bookwalter Cellars.

Remote Monitoring and Control 

Since this is not the client’s primary residence, remote control was one of the top priorities. Most important was remote access to let in contractors or guests and surveillance to check in on the home anytime. As with most second homes, the client wanted seamless control to be able to jump in and enjoy their stay immediately.  

Lighting Design

We also significantly improved the client’s lighting design. First, we retrofitted LED bulbs to the ceiling for a more modern aesthetic. Then, we focused on adding layers, primarily through the use of linear lighting. This lighting helped to highlight certain features—like coves and the wine fridge—and added functionality with fixtures above cabinets and under the bathroom’s vanity mirror.
